I sincerely recommend: Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris. You might laugh your ass off. Or learn a great deal about human behavior around the holiday season.
I kind of hate owning a car. I know I really should not say that but I really do not like the responsibility of finding a place for the automobile at all times. Especially when Glen Mor charges almost a $1,000 per quarter for rent but does not include parking. Ridiculous. Oh and I fell down this hill because I was trying to find a short cut from the Lothian parking lot (the only lot with available spots). I really hope no one saw. But someone probably did, and laughed.
Visited with Laurel in the Commons. We drank tea for ten minutes and talked about guys who send topless pictures via text messaging.
Ran into Ernie (twice!) which was very nice since we never ever see each other on campus. But there is this one guy who talks to himself that I always see. This girl sat down on her skateboard and was sliding down the big hill by Pentland, right in the center of the road. I really wanted to shout: "You look fucking stupid!" But I didn't. Seriously, the road is meant for the cars, you are not on a Disneyland ride.
Sometimes I really miss the people in my life that I don't know all that well. Something about the mystery, the potential. Sometimes I really enjoy growing older, having the experiences and the people who bring about those experiences. At the same times, when I pass places or people that were familiar when I was a complete year younger, I wish time had not elapsed to roughen my edges. No wonder so many writers publish coming of age stories.
